About Me
Hi, welcome to my small blog! I am Evie, a writer and journalist based in Manchester.
I love writing in various forms, so studying English alongside multimedia journalism has enabled me to expand my literary skills and hone in on critical analysis. I have great passions for poetry and music, and would love to explore this more in my future endeavours and work as a music, arts and culture journalist.
I'm from Liverpool, but moved to Manchester with my twin sister in 2022 for our studies. I have worked part time in retail and continued to write and explore the city ever since. I love to immerse myself in culture and trends and have had experiences exploring my local news patch and producing stories throughout my degree. I have developed my strong journalistic style over the years and am ready to gain hands-on industry experience within journalism and communications. I relocated to London for a month but have now settled on staying in Manchester!
I currently freelance write for small publications but am looking for a full-time permanent position within media and communications. I also enjoy playing guitar, writing poetry and love attending live music events, especially those of alt female musicians. One of my biggest joys is food! I love to bake, and cook most days with my sister, who is a lot better at navigating the kitchen than me. I’m always eager to explore new restaurants, bistros and bakeries (I am the food recs friend!) and consider myself to be a bit of a cake connoisseur!
I love meeting new people, and building relationships with and finding the heart of a story is such an important part of being a journalist. The world is always evolving and being a journalist involves standing at the forefront of this change and using writing to explore and share stories of so many unique people.
This blog is a way for me to collate my portfolio and explore my interests further through the joys of journalism. I mostly publish reviews, artist profiles and longform pieces on here, but may post creative writing pieces at times.
Thanks for reading and enjoy!
Evie :)
